CBD: LASG TO HOLD CULTURAL PROGRAMMES FOR PUPILS AT TINUBU SQUARE FOUNTAIN

Lagos State Government will on Friday entertain selected pupils of public primary schools on the Island with different cultural programmes and folklores at Madam Tinubu Square Fountain in line with its desire to further entrench the historical and cultural heritage of the state.

Speaking on the coming event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Hon. Agboola Dabiri, noted that the Fountain, located in the heart of Lagos Island CBD will be kept busy on monthly basis with different cultural programmes for school children and residents.

He reiterated the determination of the present administration to implement programmes that will enhance the preservation of cultural and historical sites across the state, adding that his Office already has series of historical and cultural programmes in place to ensure that the Tinubu Fountain is not left to deteriorate due to lack of use or maintenance as in the past.

According to the Special Adviser, notable Lagosians, dignitaries and captains of industries, and those that have contributed positively to the growth and development of the state including traditional chiefs and cultural groups, have been invited for the One-Day event, which will dwell on the historical background of Lagos.

“The State Governor is quite committed to the sustenance of the historical and cultural heritage of the state and staging the folklore event at the Madam Tinubu fountain is a step in that direction”, Dabiri explained.

The event will feature, among other things, motivational talk, docudrama, cultural display as well as quiz competition and award of prizes.
